Shading + Using Felt On Cards

Hi there! Today I am excited to share how to shade felt embellishments and use them on your cards to create a quick and easy piece that looks stunning. The embellishments that I am using are made by Hero Arts and come as a gift with some orders. However, you can easily make your own embellishments using regular felt, Stick It adhesive, and dies. I hope to create a video in the future sharing how to create your own felt embellishments.

When I am using felt on my cards I like to add dimension to it to give a bolder look and make it stand out on the card. For this, I use a variety of gray Copic Sketch Markers and fade them out into whatever color the felt is. This gives the blending a soft effect with a bold color wherever you added the darkest gray marker.

FLOWER CARD

To finish off the card with flower embellishments, I colored a background using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens and Wink of Stella on bristol cardstock. Creating a colorful and bold background with varying colors like this gives a great grounding for the embellishments to stand out on. Then, I added a sentiment, some sequins, and Glossy Accents for some raised shine.

ORNAMENT CARD

To finish off the ornament felt card, I used a diamond shape stencil to create a soft blending of color that fades to the edges of the card. Then, I added the ornaments on with some string above each one. Finally, I added a sentiment and some glossy accents for extra shine and embellishments.
