No-Mess Glitter Backgrounds

Hi there! Today’s video shares a couple ways to use glitter in backgrounds on cards and seal the glitter so that there is no mess for the recipient. I’ll also share a few tips to keep the little pesky glitters from getting all over your crafty space.

To apply the sparkle dust glitter to all of my cards, I used a variety of Scor Tapes. These tapes are a super strong double-sided adhesive that holds the glitter nicely and are great for many other techniques. I strongly recommend using these tapes over messy liquid adhesives because they will leave a much cleaner look!

On the first card, I used several colors of Sparkle Dust glitter to create a blended ocean background. I masked off the paper and added a layer of clear embossing powder to the glitter background to seal everything in. The embossing powder adds some extra shine and makes the glitter look stunning, but gets rid of any potential mess!

I also used some of the adorable images from the Eskimo Kisses stamp set to finish off all of my backgrounds.

For the second example, I created a very simple glitter background and used a piece of white cardstock to mask off some of the glitter and create a little pond. I added a little fishing penguin to finish off my scene and embellished the edge with some Nuvo Drops for texture.

On the last card, I used the varying sizes of Scor Tapes to create three glittered stripes and added a layer of clear embossing powder to seal everything in. The background is very simple, but it makes a good place to add some critters and create a fun scene!

To clean up any of the glitter the might have gotten on my desk, I use Swiffer dusting cloths which are amazing for collecting the pesky fine glitter. I also use coffee filters as I’m working to collect any excess glitter and add it back into the jar.
