Hey everybody! Today I decided to create yet another interactive card… this time with a window that lifts up and reveals some winter critters. This card is not my usual style, but I decided to embellish it a lot and give it a try!
I started by stamping two cottage houses from the Christmas Cottage stamp set in the center of my card. Using masking paper, I covered the houses so they would be protected from the rest of the stamping. Then I layered up my background by stamping a watercolor background in blues from the Lace Leaf stamp set and a line of trees in gray.
Then, I colored in the two cottages using Copic Sketch Markers and a simple blending and coloring technique (the video shows exactly how they were colored). After coloring, cut out the cottages using a craft knife along the edges and leaving a portion uncut on the top. This way they will flap open to reveal an image underneath.
To create the images underneath, I traced a basic outline of the openings on a separate paper panel. Next, I was able to stamp some winter critters from the Cool Buddies stamp set in the traced guidelines. Then, I colored in the critters and added the panel beneath the main card to reveal the images underneath.
I stamped a greeting, some paw prints, and clouds around the background to add a bit more interest to the card. Finally, I used some Crystal sequins and twine to finish off completely.
Enjoy the video!
