Inlaid Die Cutting + Blog Hop!

Happy Monday! 🙂 Today’s video shows how to create cards with a fun die cut inlay technique using small dies pieced together. I am also joining the talented SpellBlogger team in a fun blog hop (more information at the end of the post), so expect to see more work using their awesome products in the future!

For both of the cards, I aligned the dies in the center of the card and marked their place. Then, I cut them out one by one using the Platinum machine to create a solid cutout shape. After shading the die cuts using Distress Oxides, I inlaid the pieces into the background making sure to cut some edges off to make them fit together.

When using these adorable dies, I instantly thought of little kids and their stuffed animals to match the hop’s fun theme of summer/kids!

For the first example, I used the Ella-Fant die set and inlaid them into a watercolor background using Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide. Lately, I have been obsessed with using Nuvo Crystal Drops and I added them on top of the eyes and water splash for some dimension and shine.

I created a second card using the Some Bunny die set and inlaid it in a softly ink blended background using Broken China Distress Oxide. I also added some Glossy Accents on the background for a subtle texture and embellishment.
