Happy World Cardmaking Day all (I hope your days are filled with fun crafting)! Today’s video shares how to create colorful glitter embellishments for your cards using intricate die cuts. Also, Scrapbook.com provided me with $25 gift certificates that I can giveaway to three of you (more info at the end of this post)!

To start the technique, I covered a sheet of cardstock with strong 0.50-inch tape to create a full sheet of double-sided adhesive. Then, I cut the intricate Gilded Ornaments dies out of the adhesive cardstock (make sure that all of the little pieces stay in the cardstock.
I started peeling the release paper off of areas where I wanted to apply glitter to reveal the super sticky adhesive. Then, I applied the Sparkle Dust on top of the adhesive and buffed it in using my bone folder to ensure that it will stay put. This glitter is super fine and gives beautiful velvety results without being obnoxious. I repeated the same process until all of the dies were covered in glitter.
To ensure that no glitter will rub off, I added a coating of clear embossing powder on top of the die cuts. This enhances the sparkle and protects you from getting glitter everywhere! You could also use Glossy Accents to add a clear coating and add dimension to the embellishments (that will dry better on smaller die cuts).
For the textured background, I used the Circle Confetti cover plate die with an embossing mat to create a simple textured background. I added a grateful die cut on top of the ornament (on the inside you could write for you this Holiday season) because I can always use appreciation cards! To finish it off, I created little enamel hearts using Nuvo Drops.

Happy world card making day. I’m spending the day getting my Christmas card list and supplies together. Last year I made close to 300 so I need to start early 🙂
Great video and love your card. Thanks for sharing…
Great card! I really enjoyed your video. I spent WCM day making some fall themed thank you and birthday cards. Thanks for sharing inspiration!
I enjoy watching your videos on you tube. Your ornaments are beautiful. I’m a beginner cardmaker so I’m learning and watching videos from different designers and trying emulate some of their techniques on my cards today (for the world card making day).
Thank you for all of your hard work that’s helping others.
I have been visiting all of my favorite YouTube sites and Company blogs to see what they are working on for World Cardmaking Day.
You are a delight to watch. I laughed out loud as you made this gorgeous card because adding clear embossing powder is genius as my mother -in-law will attest. I did not use embossing powder on a get well card I sent her. Quite messy! Thanks for that tip.
I will definitely be cardmaking in celebration. I can’t go a day without creating!!
Simon, this is a beautiful card. I like that you used the “Grateful” sentiment on the ornaments. I think too often we confine certain sentiments to a certain holiday, when they can be used for many occasions. I like watching your videos. It’s inspiring to see someone so young being enthused with card making. For World Card Making Day, besides watching lots of videos of other cardmakers, I plan on making a card out of an owl image I colored with colored pencils and gel pens. Thanks for all you share, Simon.
I had to work 12 hours at the hospital today, so I actually started my cards last night! Plan on finishing up tonight. Thank you for all your videos. Although I am not a beginner, you have taught me so many techniques that I use. Thank you for the chance to win. You are AWESOME!
