Hi there! Today I am coming at you with a bit of a different video… a DIY galaxy painted pillow. This project is super simple and adds a fun pop of color and design to any room.
When painting…
- Start with the darker colors and layer up
- Focus on a soft seamless blend between colors
- Be sure to vary the colors
- Lighten some colors by adding white
To add the starts, use watered down white paint and a toothbrush to flick them on. For bigger stars use a paintbrush.
If you would like to paint a lighter galaxy design than I did try adding some more pink and white to lighten up the colors. Have fun there are no rules to how you paint!
Enjoy the video!

Great video. Really neat pillow….love the galaxy.
AWESOME!!!! I love how fast your videos are….
Gorgeous pillow! Super fun project too!
WOW! So cool!
Well Simon, that was fun! Who knew it would look so cool with all of those crazy colors!
Awsome! Question…did you mix the paint with something to make it permanent on fabric???
Sorry for taking so long to reply… the acrylic paint is permanent but i recommend using fabric paint!
Not to detract from your wonderful pillow, but I just have to say how much you make me smile. I love your tutorials and your DIY videos. I’d love to see more with Peerless watercolors and Gelatos.
Thanks so much for the suggestion! I will try to show some more of that in videos 🙂
You are such a creative person…………..your pillow looks great! If you happen to get the new Tim Holtz crayons (which I just broke down and ordered), I would love to see how you use them.
Another great project. I enjoy watching your videos, Simon. So glad to see your enthusiasm and talent. Thanks for sharing.
