Hi there! I was challenged by Catherine Pooler and Michele from Casual Friday Stamps to create a card that knocks Catherine’s socks off! Challenge Accepted.
Today’s video shows how to stamp using Brusho Powders and how to do major card surgery and fix huge mistakes. We will be using the Autumn Blessings stamp set as today’s focus to create the card.
I used the two solid leaf stamps with some watered down Brusho to stamp out my three leaves with a variety of different colors. I used Brusho to get lots of texture and vibrant colors, these powders are perfect for exactly that!
To cut out a piece of vellum and the stems for the leaves, I used the coordinating die set called Acorn. I then adhered all of the leaves together and added them onto a tag from the Scallop Tag die set which creates awesome tags with fun scallop details.
I die cut the Blessings sentiment onto my tag from the Noel die set and stamped down the sentiment to you underneath it. To make sure I aligned this sentiment very straight I used the MISTI stamping tool.
Finally, I stamped a wood grain background and tied some twine to the tag. For more information on how I did the card surgery and fixed my mistakes watch the video below!
Enjoy the video!

Well done Simon……I bet Catherine is running around looking for her socks. Appreciated how you shared your mistakes and the surgery that followed. Here I thought I was the only one who tore my cards apart to fix them. LOL.
Beautiful card for Autumn and Thanksgiving!
Love your card, Simon! I love the Brusho colors you achieved on your leaves! I appreciate you showing how you changed up your card when you weren’t satisfied with the first “edition”. I often do that as well. Sometimes I just layer the parts on, take a photo and then remove them until later. Then if I still like the look, I place them back with adhesive. Great job!
A beautiful card Simon. I haven’t used Brusho yet but I’d love to one day soon! A great job!
Spectacular job, a great card that packs an autumnal punch x
Awesome card, great use of Brusho and fabulous details x
I’m not sure about Katherine socks, but you knocked my socks off. What a cute card and the video. I loved it!

Well done, Simon! Very nice; card; well presented video; clear speech and diction; excellent grammar and usage! Are you planning to major in Art or in English when you get to college?
Simon, congrats. You are very creative. I love your fix-it share. Glad to know others make cards they dislike and rearrange.
You killed it Simon! I especially love your use of negative space. I’m pretty sure that Catherine’s barefoot right now 😉 What a great sport for taking Michele and Catherine on. Well done!
Awesome job with this card, Simon! Love how you stamped with brusho.
Wow! Simon you have definitely knocked my socks off! Awesome card, great video and I just love how you rocked my stamps and dies! You’re one talented dude 😉
Great card. I love this technique with the Brushos. I just recently got some and have been playing with them, but haven’t done this technique, will have to try it. I also saw that it looked like you used a tack in the top of the Brusho containers, this is brilliant, I did poke holes in my tops, but leaving the tack in it like that is genius. Thanks for sharing with us, I’m so glad I found your blog.
Well Simon, I not only think you knocked her socks off but out of the park…..I don’t think she will ever find them all….lol! Nice job, Simon. I really loved the look of the brushos! Keep on stampin’!!!
Beautiful card Simon, and you definitely knocked my socks off! Are you sure you’re only 13?!! I’m excited to see where this craft takes you in the coming years. Hats off to you Simon…totally impressed!!
